I can't describe enough about what I have felt reading this trilogy。 It was like bullet train yet slow enough to sink in to your bones and make you shiver and euphoric at the same time。 I can't describe enough about what I have felt reading this trilogy。 It was like bullet train yet slow enough to sink in to your bones and make you shiver and euphoric at the same time。 。。。more

Reading these as a college student who wanted nothing to do with discussing politics and reading them as an adult who has more knowledge of politics and injustices is a completely different experience。 Yes, Katniss ends up in the 'white savior' role, but the overall storyline of rebelling against a corrupt government is what you should really take away from reading these books。Ranking: 1st - Catching Fire2nd - The Hunger Games3rd - MockingjayAlthough I do feel that this series could have been 2 Reading these as a college student who wanted nothing to do with discussing politics and reading them as an adult who has more knowledge of politics and injustices is a completely different experience。 Yes, Katniss ends up in the 'white savior' role, but the overall storyline of rebelling against a corrupt government is what you should really take away from reading these books。Ranking: 1st - Catching Fire2nd - The Hunger Games3rd - MockingjayAlthough I do feel that this series could have been 2 books instead of 3 books。*side note: I will forever be bitter with how Finnick was handled 。。。more

Ok, this review kind of has spoilers (I don't think so but I tend to reveal a lot of spoilers unintentionally, so maybe don't read this)? Ok, the Hunger Games had a great plot and pretty complex characters, but the quality decreased after the first book。 The plots in the second and third book are interesting, but not as interesting, and they have boring parts。 A warning is that the ending, while realistic and fitting, was rushed and could have been more detailed。 It has gore, and sensitive topic Ok, this review kind of has spoilers (I don't think so but I tend to reveal a lot of spoilers unintentionally, so maybe don't read this)? A series I read during my teens and still consider some of my favourite books (especially 1 & 2)。 Haven't re-read them in a minute now, but they were super easy to read, an amazing concept and a romance that young me couldn't quite get over。 Peeta bread 4 life。 A series I read during my teens and still consider some of my favourite books (especially 1 & 2)。 Haven't re-read them in a minute now, but they were super easy to read, an amazing concept and a romance that young me couldn't quite get over。 Peeta bread 4 life。 。。。more

I enjoyed the character interactions and the mental turmoil Katniss goes through。 It's refreshing to read a story about a girl going through grief and anguish without it being portrayed as beautiful and elegant。 I fell in love with Peeta, Gale, and Finnick! I wasn't expecting the romantic subplot before I started reading, so it was a pleasant surprise。 I'm only removing one star because there were many times I had difficulty picturing what was happening due to the lack of descriptions, but I can I enjoyed the character interactions and the mental turmoil Katniss goes through。 It's refreshing to read a story about a girl going through grief and anguish without it being portrayed as beautiful and elegant。 I fell in love with Peeta, Gale, and Finnick! I can proudly say that the hunger games is officially my all time favourite book series! I loved all of it from when Katniss woke up in her bed in district 12 to when Katniss finally said “real。” It was an amazing journey and I hope many many people will follow!Definitely recommend these books to 10 years and up。 (Though if children do not enjoy too much violence then maybe 12 and up)。

One of the best Young Adult series I've ever read。 It's full of criticism about the world as it currently is, the characters are complex, the story is mesmerizingly tragic。 One of the best Young Adult series I've ever read。 It's full of criticism about the world as it currently is, the characters are complex, the story is mesmerizingly tragic。 。。。more

I fell in love with how the writer managed to describe in this love triangle a life path decision for the protagonist, regarthless of who she chooses to be with, she is choosing her personal believes。 I was also fascinated by how she breaks the sotial stereotype in gender rols without taken the very esscence of both energys (female and male) the delicate and submissive woman and the stubborn and rude man, in this story we see the woman as a brave and powerful person, the man as a selfless, devot I fell in love with how the writer managed to describe in this love triangle a life path decision for the protagonist, regarthless of who she chooses to be with, she is choosing her personal believes。 I was also fascinated by how she breaks the sotial stereotype in gender rols without taken the very esscence of both energys (female and male) the delicate and submissive woman and the stubborn and rude man, in this story we see the woman as a brave and powerful person, the man as a selfless, devoted person and also a very sensitive human being which is his strength and a very powerful one, he is never the weak one, he always knew seans the very beginning of the sotry that if the Capitol takes the very essence of your self, your core, you won't be dying with your own beliefs in your hands, you won't be you anymore even in your deathbed, Katniss doesn't understand this until the last book。The analogy of "bread" that she uses to express life is present in every detail of the book, Peeta is a giver of life, that is why he is a baker。 In many ways he expresses the love for life, the sacrifice and the responsibility that it means to be alive and let live by giving Katniss bread in many different ways, literally giving her bread but also making her hungry for life: She even describes the kiss in the cave and the kiss on the beach as an instant in which it leaves you hungry for more。 Peeta was offering Katniss the chance to pursue life through a kiss。"Panem et Circum" means to denounce the immobility of the citizens of Rome against the intrigues of the leaders and the maneuvers they use to control the population。 On the other hand it is a historical fact that the ruling class was funding grandiose celebrations to ensure calm for people drowning in the illusion of the happiness of the masses。 On my opinion, this is still happening, ofcourse not as explicit as The Hunger Games show, but it does, and for me it all goes back to what Plutarch says to Katniss at the end: "Now we are in that sweet period where everyone agrees that our recent horrors should never be repeated。 But collective thinking is usually shortlived。 We are fickle, stupid beings with poor memories and a great gift for self-destruction。 Although who knows? Maybe this will be it。"Good reading! 。。。more

My first audio books!! I already love the hunger games so it was so fun to listen to them all!! However, after reading them again after some number of years, I’ve realized that Katniss is actually awful lol。

I really liked this series the first time I read them。 Recently I went to reread them and I did not enjoy them as much。 It is definitely better to read this series for the first time。

The Hunger Games: ★★★★★The Hunger Games is always at the top of my ever-changing list of favorite books。 Ironically, it makes feel safe, and I read it whenever I’m in a stressful place。 I’m assuming you know the premise of such a famous book, but if you don’t you won’t find it here *sorry*I love the chunks in this book。 You have District 12。 Then the pageantry of the Capitol。 Then the games。 Back to pageantry。 Nothing is too short, but nothing drags on either。 Again, part of this is nostalgia, b The Hunger Games: ★★★★★The Hunger Games is always at the top of my ever-changing list of favorite books。 Ironically, it makes feel safe, and I read it whenever I’m in a stressful place。 I’m assuming you know the premise of such a famous book, but if you don’t you won’t find it here *sorry*I love the chunks in this book。 You have District 12。 Then the pageantry of the Capitol。 Then the games。 Back to pageantry。 Nothing is too short, but nothing drags on either。 Again, part of this is nostalgia, but I can trace every event and how Katniss feels here and there。 I also feel like if you dropped me into the arena, I could take you on a tour。 The characters are all so compelling! I love everyone’s character, and even the Capital people like Effie and the prep team, have dimension, even if they’re unbelievably shallow and naive。 The world building too, it’s so good and I can imagine everything so clearly! The Capital is permanently imprinted in my mind。I know a lot of people aren’t allowed to read it, because they’re parents or they themselves are horrified by the idea of a book here kids kill kids。 And all I can say is: yes。 That’s the whole point! The whole premise is so horrifying。 And the thing that hits so close to home is, that excluding the games, this isn’t too far off from the world right now。 43% of the world doesn’t have running water in their homes, and first world countries are still going to drain them of resources。 That’s the real thing about this book, and dystopias in general, people are uncomfortable about the messages they are trying to send。 And you should be uncomfortable! But instead of saying it’s a terrible book, do something about it!I’ve seen lots of books featuring cold-hearted heroines who kill with no remorse, and while I like those characters in mindless fiction, there is a place to say that that is unrealistic。 People who have no remorse after killing people are psychopaths。 psy·cho·path/ˈsīkəˌpaTH/nounnoun: psychopath; plural noun: psychopathsa person suffering from chronic mental disorder with abnormal or violent social behavior。I’m not saying everyone who kills is a psychopath。 People who don’t want to, try to spare lives, only kill for a reason, and feel remorse, are real people you will meet in life。 And throughout the series, you will see how all of this messes up Katniss, and I just want to applaud Suzanne Collins for including trauma and PTSD in her books。This book is the start to a fantastic and honestly iconic series。 I love everything about this first book, and I recommend to everyone。Catching Fire: ★★★★★This book is so…。 *waves hands vaguely* it’s simultaneously the best and worst Hunger Games book, in my opinion。 The beginning is way too slow for me, but when it get going, mannnn。 It makes a bang。Katniss is her usual awesome self, albeit a bit scarred from the previous game。 And although she wants to move on like nothing has happened, it becomes evident that she will never be able to do that。“Even if you pull it off, they'll be back in another few months to take us all to the Games。 You and Peeta, you'll be mentors now, every year from here on out。 And every year they'll revisit the romance and broadcast the details of your private life, and you'll never, ever be able to do anything but live happily ever after with that boy。”She hunts, has photo shoots, and goes on her victory tour。 She worries about mentoring the next games and Gale and Peeta。 I absolutely hate love triangles, and this book is no exception。 But to me, it’s one of the smallest parts of this book, and there’s so much other good stuff that I’ll let it slide…。Yeah, not much happens in the first half。 Victory tour, death threats, unexpected visitors。 Getting drunk and getting hurt。 I think I got it all。 Now, the second half。(view spoiler)[ WowowowoowowowowowowoowoThis was everything。 This was the first book on steroids。 Like literally。 In the Games with a kid you don’t know but casually saved your life once? Make that a kid who’s in love with you and has saved your life multiple times。 Some of the tributes have been training their whole 18 years of life? Some of the people have 40 years of game experience, real life or mentoring。 Death arena? Quarter Quell。 Death arena x100。 Sketchy alliances? Allies part of a revolution。 President lowkey wanting to kill you after the games? Entire country looking out to kill you。And I loved every single second of it。 (hide spoiler)]Suzanne Collins holds on to the amazing parts of the first book: spectacular world building, great writing, phenomenal characters and lots of action。Mockingjay: ★★★★☆Spoilers for The Hunger Games and Catching Fire Ahhh, the least favorite book of the series。 My, what a journey this has been。 Honestly, this is such an amazing book even as my least favorite, which just shows why this series is so beloved。I didn’t like this book because it multiplied the love triangle-ness。 Like, spare me。 Also, some of my favorite parts of the first two books were the Haymitch-Peeta-Katniss moments, which were nonexistent in this book。 (view spoiler)[ Also, Katniss voting for another game? No, no, no, no, why, Katniss? (hide spoiler)] That’s basically it。I loved how Katniss didn’t want to be the Mockinjay immediately。 Like, excuse me? I have survived two games and President Snow, I want no part in this rebellion, I’ve been a pawn long enough。 And, in her trauma and ptsd’d state, she still manages to avoid being a pawn。Suzanne Collins is not afraid of killing people。 I’ve read about too many fake-out deaths, and I appreciate her brutality。 (view spoiler)[Excuse me as I cry for Prim and Finnick (hide spoiler)]Anyway, this was all around a solid book。 I think it was a fantastic ending to this series, and a realistic one too。 Ms。 Collins doesn’t shy away from hard things, from manipulation to death。 Thank you so much for an iconic book series, it’s been a journey。 。。。more

Dark but hopefulTHG showcases what humanity at its worst could become, and while I've seen the movies multiple times and knew what to expect, this is the first time I've read the books and was pleasantly surprised by the little details left out of the movies。The violence is raw and visceral, but those brighter moments, the dandelions in the series, make it worth the read。 This is the first time in a long time I've cried at the end of a story, so trust me when I say you won't regret reading the s Dark but hopefulTHG showcases what humanity at its worst could become, and while I've seen the movies multiple times and knew what to expect, this is the first time I've read the books and was pleasantly surprised by the little details left out of the movies。The violence is raw and visceral, but those brighter moments, the dandelions in the series, make it worth the read。 This is the first time in a long time I've cried at the end of a story, so trust me when I say you won't regret reading the series。 。。。more

I loved it so much, it was hard to put down and it was so amazing! It deserves way more than 5 stars。 After reading it, I couldn’t stop thinking about it for months and I still do。 I really really really loved it。 WE LOVE PEETA。 Also Gale is trash。

Crisp, adventurous, inspiring, gripping, and vivid。A pretty twisted and scary dystopian story, with the most unique and powerful of characters woven into the plot that prophesies a near-future scenario of our world。

I cried so much。

I started reading this because I wanted to understand what my daughter loved about it。 And now I do! It is first class dystopian fiction, never mind the young adult focus。
